Every woman experienced brown spotting / brown bleeding at least once in her life. You see it on your tissue , panties and it makes you wonder ,
What actually this brown spotting means ?
Well the good news is seeing a brown spotting mainly does not indicate any major underlying issue, but it definitely means your body is trying to tell you something depends on where you are in your menstrual cycle. (Know in which phase you are.)

Let’s see the many possibilities of seeing brown bleeding in your menstrual cycle :
1.Ovulation –
The stage where female body produces an egg to be fertilized by male sperm.
This usually happen mid cycle or 14 -16 days before your next period.
Seeing a brown spot around this time mostly points to having an ovulation.
2.Implantation Bleeding –
Like in above stage of reproductive system,if an egg gets fertilized successfully by a male sperm,the fertilized egg then travels through the fallopian tubes and finally tries to bury itself in an endometrium lining,this process is called Implantation ,during implantation when egg forcefully tries to bury itself , little bit of bleeding can happen,known as Implantation bleeding.
Note that IB – Implantation bleeding comes in a very little quantity and it doesn’t soak up your whole tampon or pad.
3.Miscarriage –
Noticing brown bleeding or spotting on your panties on odd days can be a possibility of early miscarriage.If you think you are pregnant or you are TTC ,getting checked by your gynecologist will be advisable if you think you noticed brown blood or brown spotting.
4.Hormonal Imbalance –
Estrogen and Progesterone both of these hormones plays vital role in proper functioning of your reproductive system.Sometimes an unbalance in these two can cause your system to behave abnormally,sometimes instead of having a full force period ,you will just notices spots and brown blood,this is caused by the imbalance between the hormones.
This can be super confusing and frustrating as instead of blood show ,you passes brown cervical mucus for many days.
5.Anovulation –
In this case you haven’t ovulated at all,so whatever left inside your womb just passes by as an old blood causing brown spot to appear.
6.Early Pregnancy –
Implantation marks the beginning of pregnancy / early pregnancy.In case you have conceived your body will produce hormones speeily,and you can see brown bleeding.
7.Beginning of Period –
When remaining blood from your previous blood or old blood tries to leave your body,you will have Vaginal discharge mainly Brown Color,that is totally harmless and indicates that your period is about to start,this is called as PMS – Premenstrual symptom.
8.Fibroids –
A fibroid can grow in size and blocks blood flow coming from uterus creating brown vaginal discharge.
9.Ectopic Pregnancy –
A pregnancy which fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus,In this case,nerves get irritated causing brown watery vaginal discharge and you may feel pelvic pain and one sided pain in lower down section of uterus.
10.Infections –
Various types of vaginal infections can cause brown bleeding,associated with burning and itching around vagina.
Sexual Transmitted Diseases, Bacterial vaginosis can cause overgrowth of bacteria ,which can cause imbalance in pH level resulting in spotting.
