Blood Clots During Periods Are Normal ?
Surprisingly seeing period clots or stringy blood clots in period blood is considered as perfectly normal.
These clots are nothing but mixture of blood pounding from vessels and waste material , tissues in uterus.
Though Period clots are normal to appear in blood, still a blood clot bigger in size for example larger than a quarter’s size may indicate a problem such as fibroids and need the medical attention.
What Causes Period Clots ?
Some months you have lighter period and some month you may bleed heavily, all depends on your hormone levels and special conditions such as Thyroid or PCOS. Normally, when the shedding of uterine lining increases suddenly, the flow and amount of blood started coming out in gushes, your body send signals to slow down the blood flow and that causes blood pools in the uterus or vagina, it begins to form clots.
When Should I be Concerned about Blood Clots In Period ?
- If You are Changing Pads less than in 2 hours.
- Passing clots larger in size i.e. larger than a quarter.
- Experiencing heavy bleeding.
- Fainting after passing clots.
